Short Range Forecast Discussion NWS Weather Prediction Center College Park MD 411 AM EDT Wed Oct 16 2013 Valid 12Z Wed Oct 16 2013 - 12Z Fri Oct 18 2013 ...Temperatures will be 10 to near 20 degrees below average over the Southern Plains/Central High Plains and Central Rockies... A front extending from the Great Lakes southward to the Western Gulf Coast will move eastward to off the Northeast Coast while a wave of low pressure moves into the Mid-Atlantic with a trailing boundary southward to the Eastern Gulf Coast. Rain will develop along and ahead of the front from the Great Lakes to the Lower Mississippi Valley that will likewise move eastward to Northeast/Mid-Atlantic with an area of moderate to heavy rain over parts of the Northern Mid-Atlantic by Thursday evening. In addition, showers and thunderstorms will develop along the southern end of the boundary over the Southern Plains moving eastward to the Central/Eastern Gulf Coast by Thursday. A second front will move southeastward out of South-Central Canada across parts of the Upper Midwest to the Upper Great Lakes while extending southwestward to the Southern Rockies/Southern High Plains by Thursday evening. Upslope flow behind the boundary will produce light snow over higher elevations and rain over the lower elevations over parts of the Northern Rockies/Northern High Plains moving southward to the Central Rockies/Central High Plains by Thursday evening. Light rain will also develop over parts of the Upper Great Lakes with the aid of an upper-level jet streak also on Thursday evening.
