Short Range Forecast Discussion NWS Weather Prediction Center College Park MD 451 AM EDT Fri Nov 01 2013 Valid 12Z Fri Nov 01 2013 - 12Z Sun Nov 03 2013 ...Numerous showers and thunderstorms will continue to breakout ahead of a cold front crossing the Appalachians on Friday... ...Heavy rains and mountain snows expected for the Northwest this weekend... Numerous showers and thunderstorms will continue to light up ahead of a cold front crossing the Appalachians on Friday. The front and associated storms should clear the Atlantic Coast by Saturday morning...however...multiple surface waves along the boundary could clip New England with light precipitation as they lift northeastward Saturday afternoon. The widespread flash flooding and severe weather threat with this system will continue to diminish...and the strong and gusty winds across the Great Lakes and New England should begin to relax as the deep anchoring surface low lifts further into Canada. While much of the eastern third of the Nation clears out for the weekend...a weak surface low and cold front crossing the Great Lakes region will allow light shower activity to continue through Saturday. Weather will become increasingly unsettled in the northwestern corner of the Country this weekend as a vigorous piece of energy in Pacific swings onshore. The associated surface system should reach the coast by Friday night...and an abundance of moisture streaming out of the Pacific should fuel moderate to heavy rains along the Washington and Oregon coasts...with accumulating snows expected in the higher elevations of the Cascades. Strong and gusty winds will accompany the front...and precipitation will spread inland over the Intermountain West and Northern Rockies as the front quickly pushes eastward on Saturday.
