Short Range Forecast Discussion NWS Weather Prediction Center College Park MD 354 PM EDT Fri Nov 01 2013 Valid 00Z Sat Nov 02 2013 - 00Z Mon Nov 04 2013 ...Numerous showers and thunderstorms will continue to breakout ahead of a cold front crossing the Appalachians on Friday... ...Heavy rains and mountain snows expected for the Northwest this weekend... A cold front pushing through the eastern U.S. will be the focus for showers and thunderstorms this evening. Showers and thunderstorms will continue into tomorrow morning along the southeast coast as the front slowly progresses eastward into the Atlantic. A secondary cold front moving across the Great Lakes will generate lake effect showers through tomorrow. A strengthening low pressure system in the eastern Pacific will push ashore in Washington by tomorrow morning. Heavy precipitation is expected to begin later today across portions of western Washington and Oregon. As the low moves inland, showers will spread across the Northern Rockies and further south across Northern California. Heavy snowfall is possible in the higher elevations of the Cascades and Northern Rockies. The majority of the Central and Southwest U.S. will enjoy quite weather with high pressure in place. By the end of the period, a cold front pushing across the intermountain west will leave much of the western U.S. with much below normal temperatures.
