Short Range Forecast Discussion NWS Weather Prediction Center College Park MD 329 PM EDT Sat Nov 02 2013 Valid 00Z Sun Nov 03 2013 - 00Z Tue Nov 05 2013 ...New snow for parts of the Northern Rockies... A storm over the Northern Rockies will slowly move roughly eastward to the Saskatchewan/Manitoba/North Dakota border by Monday. The system will produce snow over the Northern Rockies and parts of the Great Basin/Central Rockies through Monday. Onshore flow with relatively low moisture content air will produce rain and higher elevation snow over parts of the Pacific Northwest through Monday too. Overnight Sunday, moisture from the Gulf of Mexico will stream northward over the Plains/Mississippi Valley and overrun the associated warm front over the Upper Mississippi Valley producing rain over the area on Monday morning. Moisture from the Gulf of California will move northeastward over Mexico into the Lower Rio Grande Valley aiding in the development of rain over the region Sunday into Monday morning. In addition, a weak front over the Great Lakes/Northeast will move off the Northeast Coast by Sunday afternoon. The system will produce light snow over parts of the Upper Great Lakes and higher elevations of northeastern New York State on Saturday evening. Rain will also develop over parts of the Lower Great Lakes/Ohio Valley and the Northeast. The rain will end over the Northeast on Sunday morning.
