Short Range Forecast Discussion NWS Weather Prediction Center College Park MD 326 PM EST Tue Nov 12 2013 Valid 00Z Wed Nov 13 2013 - 00Z Fri Nov 15 2013 ***Coldest air of the season for much of the U.S.*** ***Relatively quiet weather pattern overall*** An arctic cold front is bringing the coldest weather thus far of the fall season to much of the northern and eastern parts of the country. An impressive surface high pressure ridge will settle in behind the front, along with January-like temperatures. Overnight lows are expected to fall into the teens and 20s from the Upper Midwest to the Mid-Atlantic, and widespread freeze warnings are in effect for Texas and the Deep South. Daytime highs will also be cold with readings 10 to 20 degrees below normal. Elsewhere across the continental U.S., a weakening storm system over the eastern Pacific Ocean is expected to bring periods of light rain and higher elevation snow for the Pacific Northwest and into British Columbia. A few rain and snow showers will also be possible over the northern Rockies. A few showers and isolated storms are also possible for South Florida. Dry conditions are expected for most of the Inter-Mountain West and into the Plains states. D. Hamrick Graphics available at www.wpc.ncep.noaa.gov/basicwx/basicwx_wbg.php
