Short Range Forecast Discussion NWS Weather Prediction Center College Park MD 244 AM EST Wed Nov 13 2013 Valid 12Z Wed Nov 13 2013 - 12Z Fri Nov 15 2013 ...Coldest air of the season continues for places from the Southern Plains to the Northeast... ...Relatively quiet weather pattern across much of the nation this period... An impressive surface high pressure ridge keeps the winter-like temperatures in place throughout the forecast period from the Southern Plains to the Northeast. Daytime highs on Wednesday will continue to be about 10 to 20 degrees below normal. Overnight lows should dip well into the 20s or even teens from the Ohio Valley to the Mid-Atlantic/Northeast, and widespread freeze warnings are in effect for Texas and the Deep South. Temperatures remain chilly on Thursday and Friday, but should be a bit warmer than Wednesday as the high pressure moves eastward. Meanwhile out west, a weakening storm system over the Eastern Pacific and a second system moving in, keeps rain showers and higher elevation snow showers in the forecast for the remainder of the work week. A surface boundary snaked across the Northern Plains and into the Central Rockies/Great Basin should remain relatively devoid of moisture through the period except for a few spotty showers on Thursday in the Northern/Central Rockies and High Plains.
