Short Range Forecast Discussion NWS Weather Prediction Center College Park MD 258 PM EST Wed Nov 13 2013 Valid 00Z Thu Nov 14 2013 - 00Z Sat Nov 16 2013 ***Moderating temperatures for the Eastern U.S.*** ***Relatively quiet weather pattern overall*** After a couple of days with January-like temperatures over much of the northern and eastern U.S., a return to warmer temperatures is expected for Friday and especially into the weekend. The massive surface high pressure that has settled over the eastern states is now modifying and should eventually move out over the Atlantic Ocean. This will allow westerly and southerly winds to bring warmer weather, with highs in the 50s and 60s expected by Saturday for many areas. Elsewhere across the continental U.S., a relatively quiet weather pattern can be expected through Saturday with generally sunny to partly cloudy conditions expected. A few rain and mountain snow showers will be possible over the Inter-Mountain West by the end of this forecast period as a low pressure system begins developing. Isolated showers and perhaps a storm or two may develop near the Gulf Coast this weekend as return flow brings moisture back into the region. D.
