Short Range Forecast Discussion NWS Weather Prediction Center College Park MD 154 PM EST Tue Dec 10 2013 Valid 00Z Wed Dec 11 2013 - 00Z Fri Dec 13 2013 ...Locally Heavy Lake-Effect Snow Likely... A rather quiet but generally chilly pattern is in store for the US over the next two days. A rather moisture-starved system will move through the central/eastern states tomorrow with generally light snow near the Great Lakes surrounding the front and surface low. As it pushes eastward, the cold west to northwest wind in its wake will persist over the region into Thursday and help maintain lake-effect snow bands over Michigan and into NW PA and central NY. Several inches to well over a foot of snow is likely in isolated areas. Over the west, increasing onshore flow will give way to some light rain along the coast and higher elevation snow, but the lion's share of precipitation should be confined to Canada. Elsewhere, tranquil conditions should dominate the southwest, south, and much of the southeast with cold temperatures right behind the front that should moderate by the next day. Southern Florida runs the risk of a few showers as a stationary boundary meanders over the state. Fracasso Graphics available at www.wpc.ncep.noaa.gov/basicwx/basicwx_wbg.php
