Short Range Forecast Discussion NWS Weather Prediction Center College Park MD 251 AM EST Wed Dec 11 2013 Valid 12Z Wed Dec 11 2013 - 12Z Fri Dec 13 2013 ...Snow for the Great Lakes... ...Temperatures will be 10 to near 30 degrees below average from the Upper Midwest to the Southern Plains... A clipper system will move across the Great Lakes and race out over the Western Atlantic by late Wednesday night. Lake effect/lake enhances snow will develop over the Great Lakes, followed by lake effect snow downwind from the Lakes Wednesday night into early Thursday morning. A second clipper system will move across the Great Lakes on Thursday The storm will trigger lake effect/lake enhances snow over the area on Thursday. Meanwhile, a lingering front over Florida will trigger scattered showers and thunderstorms over the southern half of the state through Thursday night. In addition, upper-level energy moving over Northern Mexico/Southwest/Southern Rockies will produce light rain over parts of the Lower Rio Grande Valley/Southern Rockies on Thursday. Elsewhere, upper-level energy will move onshore over the Pacific Northwest on Thursday, too. The system will produce light to moderate rain along the coast and snow at higher elevations by Thursday evening. Snow will also develop over parts of the Northern Rockies on Thursday evening.
