Short Range Forecast Discussion NWS Weather Prediction Center College Park MD 416 AM EDT Tue Jun 10 2014 Valid 12Z Tue Jun 10 2014 - 12Z Thu Jun 12 2014 ***Unsettled weather east of the Mississippi River*** ***Hot and humid from Texas to the Mid-Atlantic*** ***Moderating temperatures across the Northern Plains*** Scattered showers and thunderstorms will be quite common throughout much of the Eastern U.S. for the middle of the week. The upper-level low currently over Missouri Tuesday morning is forecast to continue shearing out and thus weaken. However, there will still be enough forcing aloft, along with a weak surface front, to generate areas of organized rainfall and embedded thunderstorm activity from the Deep South to the Ohio Valley, and isolated to scattered convection elsewhere. The severe thunderstorm potential is expected to diminish through the middle of the week. Across the central Plains and into the Rockies, a weak cold front is forecast to drop southeastward and bring another round of showers and storms from the northern Rockies to the Upper Midwest. Temperatures are not expected to be as cool as recent days with more sunshine. Hot and humid conditions are expected to continue through Thursday for the Deep South, Southeast, and into the Mid-Atlantic as this region will continue to have weak southerly winds and should remain south of the main frontal zone. Hot and dry weather will continue for the Desert Southwest, and pleasant conditions will continue for the West Coast. Hamrick Graphics available at www.wpc.ncep.noaa.gov/basicwx/basicwx_wbg.php
