Short Range Forecast Discussion NWS Weather Prediction Center College Park MD 405 AM EDT Sun Aug 10 2014 Valid 12Z Sun Aug 10 2014 - 12Z Tue Aug 12 2014 The unusually active weather pattern for the Dog Days of August will continue across the United States. A wavy stationary front across the South is expected to wring out more showers and thunderstorms there--some of which may produce flooding rains in the Carolinas Sunday and Sunday night. A cold front nosing into the northern Great Plains will be accompanied by its own showers. As the cold front progresses into the Midwest, the areas between it and the old front over the South will fill in with rainfall, so that much of the East will be wet Monday. The West will see much more widely scattered showers and thunderstorms, but locally heavy rainfall could produce flash flooding in vulnerable terrain.
