Short Range Forecast Discussion NWS Weather Prediction Center College Park MD 400 AM EDT Tue Apr 28 2015 Valid 12Z Tue Apr 28 2015 - 12Z Thu Apr 30 2015 ...Heavy rain to impact the Gulf Coast and Southeast... Showers and thunderstorms will move across the Gulf Coast states and the Southeast U.S. over the next few days. A surface low located in the western Gulf region will glide eastward toward the Florida Panhandle on Tuesday. Most of the heavier rain will concentrate along the coast from Louisiana to the Emerald Coast of Florida. In addition, scattered showers and thunderstorms will occur in parts of southeast and northern Texas and Oklahoma. This area of precipitation will move eastward into the lower Mississippi Valley by Tuesday evening, with most of the rainfall beginning to taper off across the southern Plains region. By Tuesday night, the surface low near the coast will move across northern Florida. Although the precipitation won't be nearly as heavy as it was, showers and thunderstorms will linger across northern Florida. Eventually, by Wednesday afternoon, this low pressure system will make its way into the Atlantic and take a northerly track along the East Coast. Consequently, most of the showers and thunderstorms will concentrate in the Southeast with the bulk of the activity focusing around the Carolinas. The Pacific Northwest will have numerous rounds of showers throughout the short term period. Light showers will begin to move onshore in response to a cold front approaching the coast. This light to moderate activity will continue throughout the day on Tuesday and into Wednesday. Fanning Graphics available at www.wpc.ncep.noaa.gov/basicwx/basicwx_wbg.php
