Short Range Forecast Discussion NWS Weather Prediction Center College Park MD 206 PM EDT Thu May 28 2015 Valid 00Z Fri May 29 2015 - 00Z Sun May 31 2015 ...A cold front crossing the upper Mississippi Valley to the central Plains brings showers and thunderstorms to most of the Plains and Mississippi Valley the next few days... .Locally heavy rain possible in the central to southern Plains to the Great Lakes... A cold front will move quickly south down the Great Plains and east across the upper Mississippi Valley. Moisture from the Gulf of Mexico will aid development of showers and storms in advance of the front and also the dryline down in Texas. Showers and thunderstorms will develop over most of the Plains to the Upper Mississippi Valley through Thursday night. Showers and storms may produce locally heavy rainfall. As the cold front moves into the Great Lakes Friday, showers and thunderstorms will develop over the Upper Great Lakes and expand southward in advance of the front over the mid Mississippi Valley down into Texas. Locally heavy rain may occur over the southern Plains. On Saturday, the front moves into the Great Lakes so showers will shift east into the upper Ohio Valley, northeast, central to southern Appalachians, lower Mississippi Valley, and central to eastern Gulf coast. Another area of showers and thunderstorms will develop over parts of the Central Appalachians/Mid-Atlantic Thursday evening, and then redeveloping on Friday and spreading towards the lower Great Lakes Friday night and Saturday.
