An upper-level low just off the California Coast will move eastward to Southern California by Friday morning and start to weaken. The circulation around the upper-low will aid in drawing moisture from the Pacific over the Southwestern portion of the country. The moisture and upper-level energy will aid in producing showers and thunderstorms over Southern California into parts of the Southwest on Thursday morning that will expand into parts of the Great Basin and parts of the Southern/Central Rockies by Friday. In addition, an approaching front over the Eastern Pacific will bring a plume of moisture into the Pacific Northwest by Friday evening. The moisture will aid in producing rain over parts of the Northwest Coast on Friday evening, also. Meanwhile, upper-level energy over South-Central Canada will move southeastward to the Northeast/Ohio Valley by Friday morning inducing a front extending from the Lower Great Lakes roughly southwestward to the Southern High Plains by Thursday evening. The boundary will move eastward off the Northeast to the Southeast Coast and southward to the Gulf Coast by Friday evening. The energy will produce rain showers over parts of the Great Lakes by Thursday morning. As the front develops, rain will be produced along and near the boundary from the Northeast to the Ohio Valley/Great Lakes and roughly southwestward to the Southern High Plains by Thursday evening. The rain will end over the Western Gulf Coast to the Eastern Gulf Coast on Friday morning. Rain will continue over parts of the Great Lakes to the Northeast and parts of the Northern Mid-Atlantic/Central Appalachians on Friday morning, waning to the Great Lakes/Northeast by Friday evening.
