A stationary boundary will set up across the northern Plains and northern Great Lakes by tomorrow morning. South of the front, a broad region of southerly flow will transport moisture northward from the Gulf of Mexico toward the upper Mississippi Valley. This should set the stage for moderate to heavy rainfall to break out across the upper Mississippi Valley and northern Great Lakes, with some moisture wrapping back toward the surface low in the northern Plains. Further west, portions of Montana and northern Wyoming could see heavy rainfall with the upper level low passing over the region. Conditions could be favorable for the development of strong to severe thunderstorms tomorrow afternoon across portions of the central Plains. Another cold front will come ashore along the west coast this evening bringing more showers to the Pacific Northwest. The front will push across the Great Basin tomorrow. Heavy snow is expected across the higher elevations of the Great Basin and northern Rockies with light to moderate rainfall in the valleys.
