Short Range Forecast Discussion NWS Weather Prediction Center College Park MD 400 AM EDT Wed Jun 12 2019 Valid 12Z Wed Jun 12 2019 - 12Z Fri Jun 14 2019 ...Heat to continue across the West on Wednesday followed by cooler temperatures through the remainder of the week... ...Additional heavy rains with flash flooding possible along the Southeast coast on Wednesday... Temperatures are expected to soar once again across much of the western U.S. on Wednesday, with daytime temperatures reaching 10-20 degrees above normal across much of the western third of country. Daytime temperatures topping off more than 20 degrees normal are expected across portions of the Pacific Northwest on Wednesday. While well above-normal temperatures are forecast to persist from the northern Intermountain West into the High Plains, temperatures are expected to cool along the coast as onshore flow increases and the marine layer deepens on Thursday. A cold front pushing into the Pacific Northwest will bring more significant cooling to the northwestern U.S. on Friday. Contrasting with the West, average to below-normal temperatures are expected across much of the central and eastern U.S. through midweek before temperatures begin to warm across the Plains on Friday. Areas of low pressure moving northeast along a stalled frontal boundary will continue to produce periods of heavy rain along the Southeast coast from southeastern Georgia to the eastern Carolinas. With several inches of rain having already fallen in some locations over the past couple of days, the Weather Prediction Center continues to highlight this area with Slight Risk for excessive rainfall on Wednesday. Meanwhile, an area of low pressure will continue to amplify as it moves into the Great Lakes region on Wednesday, bringing widespread rains to the region Wednesday into Thursday. As this system approaches from the west, low pressure along the Southeast coast is forecast to strengthen and track north along the coast, bringing showers and storms into the Mid-Atlantic and Northeast Wednesday night and Thursday. Showers and windy conditions are expected to continue across the Northeast into early Friday. Pereira Graphics available at www.wpc.ncep.noaa.gov/basicwx/basicwx_ndfd.php
