A surface low that is currently organizing over the foothills of the Rockies will spring out over the Central Plains producing rainfall of up to an inch in places across the Mississippi Valley through Sunday evening. The frontal system will occlude and continue into the eastern half of the country producing negligible rainfall totals for the Ohio/Tennessee Valleys by Sunday evening. The record breaking heat wave currently impacting the Southeast will weaken a bit tonight, but will not dissipate completely. Temperatures will likely be 10-15 degrees above normal across parts of the Southeast and Tennessee Valley on Saturday. Temperatures are expected to depart by up to 20 degrees below normal over parts of the Northern Rockies on Saturday. Locally heavy snowfall totaling over a foot are expected for the higher elevations of the Northern Rockies--above 5000ft through Saturday morning.
