A quasi-stationary front extending from the Northeast to the Southern Plains will develop a wave of low pressure that will aid in ushering the boundary to the Southeast corner of the country by Monday evening. Moisture from the Gulf of Mexico will stream northward out of the Western Gulf overrunning the front producing showers and thunderstorm over parts of the Southern Plains/Lower Mississippi Valley moving into the Central Gulf Coast by Sunday evening. Moderate to heavy rain will develop over parts of the Lower Mississippi Valley into the Tennessee Valley/Southern Ohio Valley also on Sunday. Areas of freezing rain/sleet will develop over parts of Texas into Arkansas on Sunday morning, while snow develops over parts of the Southern High Plains into the Lower Mississippi Valley, likewise on Sunday. As the wave of low pressure moves into the Southeast, moderate to heavy rain will move from parts of the Tennessee/Southern Ohio Valleys into the Mid-Atlantic by Monday morning. The rain will taper off to light rain along the boundary over the Southeast by Monday evening. Snow will move into parts of the Central Appalachians and the Northern Mid-Atlantic before ending by sometime Monday afternoon. Along the North end of the front on Sunday, snow and coastal rain will develop over part of Northern New England and into Southern New England by Sunday evening. Meanwhile, a dissipating front over the Eastern Pacific will move southward along the California Coast Sunday into Monday. The energy will trigger coastal rain over parts of Northern California moving into Southern California by Monday morning. In addition, the system will produce snow over higher elevations in Eastern California through Sunday. On Monday, the energy will produce light snow over parts of the Southern/Central Rockies. Upper-level energy will swing over the Pacific Northwest on Monday and with weak onshore flow, coastal rain will develop over the Northwest with snow at higher elevations moving into parts of the Northern Rockies.
