Short Range Forecast Discussion NWS Weather Prediction Center College Park MD 317 PM EST Sat Feb 22 2014 Valid 00Z Sun Feb 23 2014 - 00Z Tue Feb 25 2014 ...Temperatures will be 20 to 35 degrees below average for parts of the Upper Midwest... ...Temperatures will be 10 to 20 degrees below average for parts of the Central Plains to the Upper Great Lakes... ...Snow for the Washington State Cascades and Northern Rockies... A front extending from the Northern Appalachians southwestward to the Southern Plains will move eastward off the Eastern Seaboard and southward into the Gulf of Mexico by Monday morning. A multiple waves of low pressure over the Ohio Valley will induce rain and snow over parts of the Ohio Valley that will move northeastward to parts of the Lower Great Lakes and Northern/Central Appalachians through Sunday evening before dissipating. Rain will also develop along Northern New England Coast Sunday evening then moving off the Coast overnight. Meanwhile, the western end of the boundary will be a quasi-stationary front from the Central/Northern Rockies into Western Canada that will slowly sink southward into Washington State, Sunday into Monday morning. Snow will develop along the front from the Central High Plains to parts of the Northern/Central Rockies through Monday. The snow will expand over parts of the Northern Plains/Middle Missouri Valley by Monday morning. In addition, lower coastal elevation rain and snow will develop over parts of the Pacific Northwest through Monday. A old front over Florida will lift northward into Northern Florida before dissipating by Sunday afternoon. The boundary will be the focus for showers and thunderstorms over the Eastern/Central Gulf Coast Region through Sunday evening. The aforementioned front over the Northern Appalachians will settle over parts of Northern Florida aiding in the development of showers and thunderstorms on Monday morning. Additionally, return flow off the Western Gulf of Mexico will produce showers and thunderstorms over parts of the Western Gulf Coast on Monday.
