A front along the Northeast Coast to the Central Gulf Coast/Southern Plains will move off the East Coast by Monday morning. The boundary will become quasi-stationary over Florida/the Gulf of Mexico and banked up against the Rockies. A wave of low pressure will produce an area of rain and snow over parts of the Ohio Valley into parts of the Mid-Atlantic that will move into the Central Appalachians to Southern New England by late Sunday night. Another wave of low pressure over the Lower Mississippi Valley will settle over the Eastern Gulf of Mexico by Monday morning. The wave will trigger showers and thunderstorms over the Lower Mississippi Valley and Central/Eastern Gulf Coast. The area of showers and thunderstorms will move to the East Coast of Florida on Monday evening/Tuesday morning. Meanwhile, moisture form the Gulf of Mexico will flow northward over the Western Gulf Coast overrunning the front producing showers and thunderstorms over the Western Gulf Coast through Monday evening. Overnight Monday, upper-level jet streak will enhance the area of showers and thunderstorms by Tuesday morning. The western half of the boundary will also be quasi-stationary from the Central Rockies to the Pacific Northwest through Tuesday. The front will aid in focusing light snow from the Northern Intermountain Region to the Central Rockies/Northern Plains. In addition, rain and highest elevation snow will develop over the Pacific Northwest, waning to a small area of rain along the coast by Tuesday morning, as upper-level ridging builds over the Northwest. Elsewhere, upper-level energy moving over the Great Lakes will trigger areas of scattered snow over parts of the Great Lakes through Tuesday.
