Low pressure over the northeastern Gulf of Mexico will move northeastward to along the North Carolina Coast by Friday evening. The system will produce showers and thunderstorms, with moderate rain at times, over Florida and parts of the Eastern Gulf Coast through early Friday morning. Rain will also develop over parts of the Lower Mississippi Valley and the Southeast Coast on Thursday morning. Moderate to heavy rain will develop over interior Central Gulf Coast to the Southeast Coast by Thursday afternoon into overnight Thursday. As the storm moves northeastward along the Southeast Coast, the moderate to heavy rain will move northward along the Southeast Coast into the Carolinas and into Southeastern Virginia by Friday evening. In addition overnight Thursday, snow will develop over parts of the Central Appalachians becoming sleet and freezing rain by Friday morning and ending by Friday afternoon. Energy moving into the Pacific Northwest will move to the Central Rockies by Friday. The energy will produce rain, moderate at times, over parts of the Northern California into the Northwest Coast through Friday morning. Snow and lower elevation rain will develop over parts of the Northern Rockies also through Friday morning. As high pressure builds southward out of Central Canada the front along the leading edge of the cold air will move from the Northern High Plains eastward to the Great Lakes and southward to the Southern High Plains by Friday evening. Snow and lower elevation rain will develop over parts of the Central Rockies/Eastern Great Basin from Thursday evening into Friday morning. Snow will continue over parts of the Central Rockies through Friday evening. Rain will develop over parts of the Central Plains into Middle Mississippi Valley also by Friday evening. Elsewhere, snow will develop over parts of the Northern Plains/Upper Mississippi Valley by Thursday morning moving into the Upper Great Lakes by Friday morning. A few patches of rain/freezing rain will develop over parts of the Upper Mississippi Valley Thursday evening into early Friday morning.
