Short Range Forecast Discussion NWS Weather Prediction Center College Park MD 337 PM EDT Thu Mar 20 2014 Valid 00Z Fri Mar 21 2014 - 00Z Sun Mar 23 2014 ...Snow across parts of the Northern Tier States... ...Temperatures will be 10 to 25 degrees below average over the Northern High Plains/Northern Plains... A storm across the Northern Plains will move eastward to the Lower Great Lakes by Saturday. The system will produce snow over parts of the Northern High/Northern Plains on Thursday evening moving eastward to the Great Lakes and the Northeast by Saturday morning. An area of rain will also develop over parts of the Northern Plains and likewise move eastward to Southern Michigan and parts of the Ohio Valley by Friday evening. The rain will continue to move eastward to Southern New England/Central Appalachians by Saturday. Meanwhile, high pressure over West-Central Canada will inch southward into the Northern Plains/Northern Rockies. The circulation around the high will aid in producing upslope flow over Northern High Plains producing light snow through Friday evening. The snow will move southward into the Central Rockies/Central High Plains on Saturday morning. Elsewhere, moisture flowing northward out of the Western Gulf of Mexico will overrun the boundary over the Southern Plains into the Tennessee Valley Friday into Saturday. Showers and thunderstorms will develop over parts of the Southern Plains by Friday evening and expand into parts of the Lower Mississippi Valley/Tennessee Valley by Saturday morning. In addition, showers and thunderstorms will develop a long parts of the Southeast Coast on Saturday. Furthermore, a new front coming into the Pacific Northwest will produce light rain a long part of the Northwest Coast on Saturday morning.
