Short Range Forecast Discussion NWS Weather Prediction Center College Park MD 401 AM EDT Tue Mar 25 2014 Valid 12Z Tue Mar 25 2014 - 12Z Thu Mar 27 2014 ...Deep storm to develop off the East Coast... ...Snow for parts of the Mid-Atlantic... ...Temperatures will be 20 to near 30 degrees below average over the Upper Midwest... A storm will develop off the Southeast Coast and under go rapid deepening as the storm moves northeastward the Maritime Provinces by Wednesday evening. The system will produce showers and thunderstorms over Florida on Tuesday morning ending by evening. While light to moderate rain intensifies to moderate to heavy rain along parts of the Southeast Coast through late Tuesday evening. Snow will develop over parts of the Central Appalachians into parts of the Mid-Atlantic on Tuesday. Heavy snow will develop over parts of the Northern Mid-Atlantic and New England Coast overnight Tuesday into Wednesday morning. The snow will taper off over parts of Maine on Wednesday evening. A weak front moving out of the Great Lakes will advance to parts of the Northern Appalachians by Wednesday morning. The boundary will aid in developing light snow over parts of the Great Lakes/Ohio Valley on Tuesday. Meanwhile, a front off the West Coast will move inland to the Central Rockies by Wednesday evening. The system will produce light rain along the Pacific Northwest Coast and Coastal Northern California. As the precipitation moves inland, snow will develop over parts of the Northern Intermountain Region and the Great Basin moving into parts of the Central Rockies by Wednesday evening, while lower elevations will get some rain . The rain and higher elevation snow will move into Central California on Wednesday. In addition an area of showers and thunderstorms will develop over parts of the Central High Plains by Wednesday evening. Furthermore, return flow off the Western Gulf of Mexico will aid in developing showers and thunderstorms over parts of the Rio Grande Valley then move into parts of the Southern Plains by Wednesday evening.
