Short Range Forecast Discussion NWS Weather Prediction Center College Park MD 454 PM EDT Thu Mar 27 2014 Valid 00Z Fri Mar 28 2014 - 00Z Sun Mar 30 2014 ***Stormy weather across the Deep South and the Southeast U.S.*** ***Rain from the Mid-Atlantic to the Northeast U.S.*** ***Heavy precipitation expected for the Pacific Northwest*** A storm over the Central Plains will move towards the Great Lakes and will produce showers and thunderstorms over parts of the Central/Southern Plains, and will move eastward to the Southern Appalachians and the Eastern Gulf Coast by Friday. Snow will develop over parts of Upper Great Lakes/Northern Plains that will move into Southeastern Canada by Friday afternoon. Rain will also develop over parts of the Middle Mississippi Valley that will move into the Northeast/Mid-Atlantic on Friday. A wave of low pressure will develop over the Lower/Middle Mississippi Valley on Friday evening redeveloping showers and thunderstorms over the region. Meanwhile, upper-level energy moving over the West Coast eastward to the Mississippi Valley by Friday. The energy will produce snow over parts of the Northern/Central Rockies and the Northern Intermountain Region that will move into parts of the Northern/Central Plains by Friday morning. In addition, onshore flow will aid in producing rain along the coastal regions of the Pacific Northwest/Northern California with snow at higher elevations on Thursday. A new front will begin to come onshore over the Pacific Northwest aiding in producing rain over the area on Friday.
