A storm over the Mid-Atlantic Coast will move Northeastward to just off the Maritime Provinces by Monday. The system will produce snow over parts of the Northeast into parts of the Central Appalachians on Sunday morning, tapering off to light snow over parts of Maine on Monday. In the meantime, pockets of rain/freezing rain and sleet/freezing rain will develop over parts of Northern New England on Sunday into Monday morning. Light to moderate rain will also develop over parts of the Mid-Atlantic and Coastal New England through Monday morning. Upper-level energy over Southern California will move northeastward to the Middle Mississippi Valley by Monday. The energy will produce lower elevation rain and snow over parts of the Great Basin and the Northern/Central Rockies on Sunday. On Sunday night, moisture from the Gulf of Mexico will move northward over the Plains into the Upper Midwest. The added moisture will produce an area of moderate to heavy snow over parts of the Northern Plains into the Upper Midwest on Monday. Also, an area of showers and thunderstorms will develop over parts of the Middle Mississippi Valley on Monday, with rain developing over parts of the Upper Mississippi Valley/Upper Great Lakes. Elsewhere, onshore flow off the Pacific will aid in producing coastal rain and higher elevation snow over parts of the Pacific Northwest/Northern California on Sunday. A new front will move onshore over parts of the California/Oregon by Monday evening. The new system will produce coastal rain and higher elevation snow over the area on Monday.
