Short Range Forecast Discussion NWS Weather Prediction Center College Park MD 238 PM EDT Mon Apr 07 2014 Valid 00Z Tue Apr 08 2014 - 00Z Thu Apr 10 2014 ...Low pressure system over Ohio Valley this evening to move northeastward across western New York and New England on Tuesday...with rain/showers and thunderstorms along the East Coast... ...Chilly weather and scattered showers will follow in its wake across the Midwest/Mississippi Valley and parts of the East... ...A big warm up is expected from the West across the Rockies into the Plains states through Wednesday before another cold front pushes southeastward across the Northwest... A deepening surface low over the Ohio Valley will move northeastward across Lake Ontario and up the St Lawrence Valley with rain falling from the Ohio Valley across the Northeast. A relatively weak wave of low pressure will also ride northeastward along a strong front oriented near the East Coast with a chilly rain on the cool side of the front and showers and thunderstorms in the warmer, tropical air. Some of the showers and thunderstorms over the Southeast and across northern Florida could cause local flooding. While much of the rain will be ending on Tuesday, it will continue across parts of the Northeast and some areas will clear out over the East Coast. However...an upper level disturbance will bring chilly air south across the Midwest into the Southeast and scattered showers will develop in the unstable air especially from the Mississippi Valley toward the Gulf Coast and Tennessee Valley on Tuesday. Meanwhile, warmer temperatures over the West will spread eastward across the Rockies into the western Plains. While much of the Southeast including Florida will start off quite cool on Wednesday...much warmer temperatures will continue to spread eastward across the Plains states with some of the warmest temperatures yet this Spring, with temperatures rising into the 70s and 80s. The warming will however be short lived as another cold front brings cooler air south and eastward across the Northwest and northern Rockies by Wednesday evening.
