Short Range Forecast Discussion NWS Weather Prediction Center College Park MD 358 PM EDT Fri May 02 2014 Valid 00Z Sat May 03 2014 - 00Z Mon May 05 2014 ...Cooler weather with some showers will move eastward along the northern states while warmth moves eastward from the West Coast across the West into the Central and Southern Plains... ...Precipitation will be common across the Northwest while showers and thunderstorms over Florida will gradually clear from northwest to southeast... Unseasonably cool air will remain over northern and central Canada while some of that air will make its way south and eastward along the northern tier of the US over the next 3 days. The next shot of chilly air will move across the Northern Plains, the northern Mississippi Valley into the Great Lakes and then the Northeast on Saturday into Sunday. Some rain showers will also occur across this area. Warm conditions over the West Coast yesterday will move eastward across the Intermountain West...the Central and Southern Rockies into portions of the Southern and Central Plains over the next 3 days. Temperatures are likely to rise into the 90s with the danger of wildfires increasing over the Southern Plains as it remains very dry. Meanwhile...temperatures have already cooled off from San Francisco northward to Seattle and a series of wet weather systems will return to the Northwest bringing several days of showers and lowering snow levels in the Cascades. The Southeast will see a gradual warmup over the next few days a cold front continues to move slowly eastward across the extreme Southeast coast across Florida. While little rain is expected across flood ravaged NW Florida...the rest of the state will experience an enhanced period of rain and embedded heavy thundershowers.
