Short Range Forecast Discussion NWS Weather Prediction Center College Park MD 438 AM EDT Sat May 03 2014 Valid 12Z Sat May 03 2014 - 12Z Mon May 05 2014 ...Conditions should gradually dry out across Florida this weekend... ...Weather will remain wet over the Northwest... Showers and thunderstorms will continue to develop along a frontal boundary lingering across Florida on Saturday. A rich supply of Gulf moisture feeding these storms will lead to some moderate to heavy rains...but the front should gradually press south and east on Saturday and off the southern tip of Florida by Sunday morning. Scattered showers will accompany a weak system pressing from the Great Lakes and Ohio Valley to the New England coast this weekend. Although activity will be widespread...precipitation totals will remain on the light side. This system will also bring a shot of cooler Canadian air into the northern tier of the Nation. A deep vortex spinning in the northeast Pacific will steadily move towards the Northwest this weekend. In response...precipitation will be on the increase from the Pacific Northwest to northern Rockies...with the highest totals expected along the favored slopes of the terrain. Although temperatures and snow levels will be dropping behind a pair of associated cold fronts sinking through the region...any accumulations will be confined to the highest peaks of the Washington Cascades and northern Rockies. Above normal warmth in the West will shift east over the next few days. Temperatures should reach into the above average range across the Intermountain West and Southern to Central Rockies on Saturday...and then the heat should spread to the Southern to Central Plains on Sunday.
