Short Range Forecast Discussion NWS Weather Prediction Center College Park MD 211 PM EDT Sat May 03 2014 Valid 00Z Sun May 04 2014 - 00Z Tue May 06 2014 ...Cool and unsettled across the Northwest...Major warm up across the South Central US with hot weather this weekend... Several upper level disturbances will bring a spell of cool showery weather across the Northwest with snow across the higher elevations of the Cascades for the next few days. Meanwhile, a significant warm up will occur across the South Central US where temperatures will rise into the 90s and approach 100 degrees across parts of Texas, Oklahoma and Kansas on Sunday. A slow moving cold front will continue eastward across Florida as showers end and clearing skies make for a beautiful day on Sunday. Across the Southeast, west to southwesterly flow will cause a gradual warm up on Sunday and Monday but skies should remain fairly cloud free. A frontal boundary extending eastward from the Central Plains across the lower Ohio Valley into the Middle Atlantic states will separate the rising temperatures across the Southern US from cooler conditions extending from the Northern Plains across the Midwest into the Northeast. A series of relatively weak systems will bring some scattered showers and continued cool conditions from the Midwest across the Northeast for the next couple days. While precipitation is expected to be mostly light, clouds and sun will alternate as below normal temperatures hang on along the northern tier of the central and eastern US.
