Short Range Forecast Discussion NWS Weather Prediction Center College Park MD 341 PM EDT Sat May 17 2014 Valid 00Z Sun May 18 2014 - 00Z Tue May 20 2014 ...Temperatures will be 10 to 15 degrees below average over Western Carolinas... A front extending from Georgia westward to Texas will slowly dissipate by Sunday evening. Rain and showers/thunderstorms will develop north of the boundary across the area, moving off the Southeast Coast overnight Sunday. In addition, upper-level energy moving across the Lower Great Lakes will produce light rain over parts of the area through Monday morning. Furthermore, low pressure and the associated front over Northern New England will produce rain over Northern Maine through Monday as the system dissipates. Meanwhile, another front over the Northern Rockies will move eastward to the Northern Plains trailing off to parts of the Great Basin by Monday. The system will produce showers and thunderstorms over the Northern High Plains on Saturday evening waning to light rain over parts of the Northern Rockies by Sunday morning. Showers and thunderstorms will return over part of the Northern High Plains on Sunday afternoon that will move eastward to the Upper Mississippi Valley by Monday morning. Additionally, onshore flow will aid in producing light rain over parts of the Pacific Northwest into parts of the Northern Rockies Sunday into Monday.
