Short Range Forecast Discussion NWS Weather Prediction Center College Park MD 332 AM EDT Mon May 19 2014 Valid 12Z Mon May 19 2014 - 12Z Wed May 21 2014 ...Widespread rain likely across the high Plains into the upper Midwest today... ...Cooler air for California and Nevada on Tuesday... An area of low pressure will continue to slide eastward through North Dakota today and into northern Minnesota by early Tuesday. Warm and moisture-laden air ahead of the cold front will stream into the upper Midwest with widespread showers and some thunderstorms. Temperatures south of the warm front will be warm to even hot with well above average highs over northern Texas and western Oklahoma into Kansas. Behind the front, much cooler air will spread southward through the interior west and also eastward across the northern Plains today and Tuesday. An upper level disturbance off the coast of Oregon will drop southward and eastward through California into Nevada by Tuesday evening, bringing an enhanced threat of showers and some thunderstorms to the region. Cooler temperatures will follow in its wake through all of California on Tuesday. The lingering boundary off the New England coast will still maintain light rain over parts of Maine through early Tuesday.
