Short Range Forecast Discussion NWS Weather Prediction Center College Park MD 420 PM EDT Mon May 26 2014 Valid 00Z Tue May 27 2014 - 00Z Thu May 29 2014 ...Flash flooding and severe weather possible for portions of Texas and Louisiana... ...Numerous showers and thunderstorms expected with a wavy frontal boundary sinking through the Northeast and Great Lakes region... Widespread active weather is expected with an upper low slowly progressing through the southern Plains and towards the Lower Mississippi Valley early this week. The heaviest and most organized area of precipitation should be across East Texas and Louisiana...where strong low level southerly flow ahead of the upper low will be pumping a rich supply of Gulf moisture into showers and thunderstorms developing over the region. These storms will be capable of producing flash flooding and severe weather. A wavy frontal boundary will trigger numerous showers and thunderstorms while it sinks through the Northeast and Great Lakes region on Tuesday and then drops into the Ohio Valley and northern Mid-Atlantic states by early Wednesday. These storms will be developing in an increasingly warm and humid airmass setting up to the south of the front...giving them the chance to become more organized and potentially produce some locally heavy rains. Scattered showers and thunderstorms are expected with a cold front pushing from the Dakotas to Minnesota over the next few days. West of the front...light and scattered showers will be possible across the Pacific Northwest and northern Rockies as a closed low in the northeast Pacific moves inland over the Northwest.
