Short Range Forecast Discussion NWS Weather Prediction Center College Park MD 358 PM EDT Sun Jun 15 2014 Valid 00Z Mon Jun 16 2014 - 00Z Wed Jun 18 2014 ...There is a slight risk of severe thunderstorms from parts of the Upper Great Lakes/Upper Mississippi Valley to parts of the Southern Plains... ...Heavy rain possible for parts of the Upper and Middle Mississippi Valley... A front extending from the Upper Great Lakes to the Southern Plains will move northeastward to Eastern Ontario and Quebec, then dissipate by Tuesday. The boundary will trigger showers and thunderstorms from the Great Lakes to the Southern Plains that will move to the northeastward into the Northeast by Monday evening into Tuesday. In addition, upper-level energy will aid in producing an area of showers and thunderstorms over parts of the Central/Northern Plains that will move to the Great Lakes by Tuesday morning. Furthermore, moisture moving northward out of the Gulf of Mexico along with upper-level impulses will aid in producing scattered areas of showers and thunderstorms over parts of the Gulf Coast through Tuesday. A second front extending from the Northern Rockies to the Great Basin will slowly move eastward to the Northern/Central High Plains to the Great Basin by Tuesday. Showers and thunderstorms will develop along and near the boundary over the Northern Rockies expanding into the Northern High Plains by Monday evening into Tuesday.
