A front will move slowly eastward across the Ohio Valley toward the Middle Atlantic and Northeast Coast. Diurnally enhanced showers and thunderstorms will precede the front with the some of the heaviest rains expected from West Virginia and Pennsylvania and northeastward across New York and New England, where the possibility of 1 to 2 inches of rain and locally heavy amounts over the next couple days. Some of the heaviest showers and storms are likely to occur across the Northeast on Wednesday. Slightly cooler weather is likely behind the front over the Ohio Valley, Midwest and upper Mississippi Valley by late Wednesday into Thursday. The front is expected to push off the Middle Atlantic and New England coasts by late Thursday, with showers tapering off and somewhat cooler and drier air in its wake. A couple of weak fronts over the Central and Southern Plains will also be the focus for some scattered showers and thunderstorms that will tap into moisture from the Gulf of Mexico. Diurnally enhanced scattered showers and thundershowers will extend across a wide area from the Southeast and Gulf Coast and lower Mississippi Valley northward across the central and northern Mississippi Valley. A couple of upper level disturbances will move across the northwestern quarter of the nation with a weak surface low expected to be associated with some rain showers from northern California and western Oregon on Wednesday across much of the Pacific Northwest on Wednesday night and into the mountains of Idaho and Montana on Thursday. A push of cooler air will make it across the Intermountain West on Thursday into Friday morning, reaching the western portions of the Northern Plains states. Very warm temperatures will be found from the Southwest into the southern and central Rockies with windy conditions fueling the possibility of fire weather especially across the Southwest by Thursday.
