Short Range Forecast Discussion NWS Weather Prediction Center College Park MD 331 AM EDT Tue Aug 19 2014 Valid 12Z Tue Aug 19 2014 - 12Z Thu Aug 21 2014 ...Slight risk of severe thunderstorms over parts of the Western Ohio Valley and the Great Lakes... ...Heavy rain possible over parts of the Western Ohio Valley and parts of the Central/Northern Plains... Upper-level low over the Upper Great Lakes will move to Michigan while weakening by Wednesday evening. Showers and thunderstorms will develop along and ahead of the associated front from the Upper Great Lakes to the Middle Mississippi Valley that will slowly move to the Lower Great Lakes/Mid-Atlantic and the Ohio Valley by Wednesday. In addition, an upper-level impulse over the Southeast will move off the coast by Wednesday morning. The energy will aid in the development of showers and thunderstorms over parts of the Mid-Atlantic Coast and the Southeast on Tuesday. Meanwhile, upper-level energy over the Northern Intermountain Region will move eastward to the Northern Plains by Wednesday evening. The energy will move into moist air over the Northern Plains on Wednesday producing showers and thunderstorms over the Northern High Plains/Northern Plains. Additionally, an upper-level low along the Central California Coast along with monsoonal moisture will produce showers and thunderstorms over the Southwest into the Central Rockies/Great Basin on Tuesday.
