Short Range Forecast Discussion NWS Weather Prediction Center College Park MD 400 PM EDT Fri Sep 05 2014 Valid 00Z Sat Sep 06 2014 - 00Z Mon Sep 08 2014 ...There is a slight risk of severe thunderstorms over parts of the Ohio Valley/Great Lakes... ...Heavy rain possible over parts of Southern High Plains/Southern Rockies... ...Heavy rain possible over parts of the Southeast Coast... A front extending from the Lower Great Lakes to the Southern High Plains will move eastward off the Northeast Coast/Mid-Atlantic Coast and southward to the Southeast and Western/Central Gulf Coast by Sunday. Moisture will pool along the front aiding in the development of showers and thunderstorms from the High Southern Plains to the Great Lakes. The showers and thunderstorms will likewise move off the Northeast Coast by Sunday and linger along the Mid-Atlantic Coast into the Southeast/Eastern Gulf Coast. Southeasterly flow off the Western Gulf of Mexico will aid in producing showers and thunderstorms over the Lower Rio Grande Valley through Saturday evening. By Sunday morning, the showers and thunderstorms will expand into parts of the Southern High Plains/Southern Rockies. In addition, monsoonal moisture and diurnal heating will produce showers and thunderstorms over parts of the Central/Southern Rockies on Friday and Saturday afternoon and evening. Elsewhere, upper-level energy over Florida will aid in producing showers and thunderstorms over Florida and the Southeast Coast through Saturday evening. Another area of upper-level energy over the Central Gulf Coast will develop showers and thunderstorms over the region through Friday evening.
