Short Range Forecast Discussion NWS Weather Prediction Center College Park MD 301 AM EDT Mon Sep 08 2014 Valid 12Z Mon Sep 08 2014 - 12Z Wed Sep 10 2014 ...Heavy rain possible along the southern Mid-Atlantic Coast... ...Showers and storms with locally heavy rain possible over parts of the Central Rockies and Southwest/Great Basin... ...A storm developing from the central Plains to upper MS Valley mid week poses a threat of severe thunderstorms and heavy rains... A quasi-stationary front will linger over the Southeast while waves of low pressure ride along the boundary. Showers and thunderstorms are expected from the Mid-Atlantic Coast south to Florida Monday. As a wave of low pressure travels along the Carolina Coast, showers and thunderstorms with moderate to locally heavy rain will develop over the Southern Mid-Atlantic states, with activity more scattered over the Eastern Gulf Coast and Florida Monday and Tuesday. Meanwhile, monsoonal moisture moving inland from the Gulf of California will help produce showers and thunderstorms over parts of the Southwest/Southern California/Great Basin and into parts of the Southern/Central Rockies through Tuesday. Flood watches remain in place across much of these areas for Monday. Another cold front will sink southward into the Northern Plains on Monday and sink south towards the central Plains and upper Mississippi Valley Tuesday and Wednesday. Rain will develop over parts of the Northern Plains. In addition, a strengthening storm developing from the central Plains to upper Mississippi Valley late Tuesday into Wednesday will cause a growing area of showers and thunderstorms to develop and move towards the upper Mississippi Valley and Great Lakes with both a severe weather threat and heavy rainfall threat expected.
