Short Range Forecast Discussion NWS Weather Prediction Center College Park MD 114 PM EDT Tue Sep 09 2014 Valid 00Z Wed Sep 10 2014 - 00Z Fri Sep 12 2014 ...Heavy Snow and Freezing Temperatures for the Northern Rockies... The big news across the United States during the next few days is the early taste of winter for the northern Rockies and adjacent high plains. A storm deepening over the central states will track into the Great Lakes, spreading soaking showers and strong thunderstorms across much of that region. In its wake, a massive area of cold high pressure is expected to ooze into the northern intermountain region, the Northern Rockies, and much of the north central states. Upslope snows and freezing temperatures are anticipated along and just east of the northern Rockies, with snow also anticipated in the Black Hills of South Dakota. The Southwest should dry out considerably after the record rainfall yesterday. Cisco Graphics available at www.wpc.ncep.noaa.gov/basicwx/basicwx_wbg.php
