Short Range Forecast Discussion NWS Weather Prediction Center College Park MD 348 PM EDT Wed Sep 24 2014 Valid 00Z Thu Sep 25 2014 - 00Z Sat Sep 27 2014 ...Heavy rain possible over parts of the Mid-Atlantic Coast... Low pressure along the Carolina Coast will move northward the Northern Mid-Atlantic Coast by Thursday morning then the storm will move eastward over the Western Atlantic by Friday. Circulation around the low will stream moisture into the coast producing moderate to heavy rain over parts of the Northern Mid-Atlantic through Thursday morning then move northeastward to Southern New England by Thursday evening. As the low moves offshore, the rain will wane to a few areas of scattered rain over parts of Southern New England and the Mid-Atlantic by Friday morning. In addition, upper-level energy over the Southeast and Florida will produce showers and thunderstorms over the area through Friday. Easterly flow off the Western Gulf of Mexico will produce showers and thunderstorms over the Western Gulf Coast/Lower Rio Grande Valley from Wednesday evening into Friday. Additionally, upper-level energy over Western Texas will produce regions of showers and thunderstorms over parts of the Southern High Plains through Thursday evening. Likewise, another area of upper-level energy over the Upper/Middle Mississippi Valley will trigger light rain over the area through late Wednesday night. Meanwhile, a front over the West Coast will become quasi-stationary extending from the Northern High Plains southwestward to Southeastern California. Moisture from the Pacific will be flowing onshore behind the boundary, aiding in the development of light to moderate rain over parts of Northern California into parts of the Pacific Northwest through Thursday morning. The onshore flow will weaken overnight Thursday producing light rain over parts of the Pacific Northwest into parts of the Northern Rockies by Friday.
