Short Range Forecast Discussion NWS Weather Prediction Center College Park MD 407 AM EDT Thu Sep 25 2014 Valid 12Z Thu Sep 25 2014 - 12Z Sat Sep 27 2014 ...Major Storm to Affect Much of the Western United States... As an area of low pressure off the Mid Atlantic coast departs with its gusty winds and rainy, gray skies, a new, complex storm system will begin to unfurl over the western states. This storm will first spread rain showers and sharply cooler conditions into the Pacific coastal states. By Friday night and early Saturday, showers and thunderstorms will break out across much of the desert Southwest, Great Basin, and northern Rockies. Southern Texas will also be showery as flow off the Gulf of Mexico sharpens somewhat. The remainder of the central states--all the way eastward to the Appalachians--will see fair weather into the weekend. Cisco Graphics available at www.wpc.ncep.noaa.gov/basicwx/basicwx_wbg.php
