A quasi-stationary front extending from the Northern High Plains roughly southwestward to Southern California is the surface reflection of a deep upper-level trough over the West Coast. Rain will develop over parts of the Pacific Northwest and Northern California that will end over the Pacific Northwest late on Friday evening. Rain will also move into parts of the Northern Rockies by Friday morning. Moisture from the Gulf of California will move northward along the boundary late Thursday night into Saturday as showers and thunderstorms develop over parts of the Great Basin/Southwest and the Southern Rockies on Friday. Upper-level jet dynamics will aid in producing an area of showers and thunderstorms with moderate rain extending from parts of the Northern Rockies southward to the Southwest by Saturday morning. In addition, light to moderate rain will develop over parts of the Northern High Plains also by Saturday. Meanwhile, upper-level energy over Western Texas along with westerly flow of the Western Gulf of Mexico will produce showers and thunderstorms over parts of Southern Texas through Saturday. Additionally, low pressure just of the Mid-Atlantic Coast will move northeastward out of the Western Atlantic Thursday evening into Saturday. The system will produce light to moderate rain over parts of Mid-Atlantic Coast/Southern New England Coast on Thursday evening tapering off to light rain along parts of Southern New England Coast by Friday morning before ending by Friday afternoon. Elsewhere, a lingering front and upper-level energy over the Southeast will aid in producing showers and thunderstorms over the Southeast Coast and Florida through Saturday morning.
