Short Range Forecast Discussion NWS Weather Prediction Center College Park MD 347 AM EDT Fri Sep 26 2014 Valid 12Z Fri Sep 26 2014 - 12Z Sun Sep 28 2014 ***Upper level low over the Inter-Mountain West to cause unsettled weather*** ***Improving weather for the East Coast this weekend*** ***Above normal temperatures across much of the U.S.*** A building upper level trough along the West Coast is forecast to result in the development of a closed upper-level low over the Inter-Mountain West for Sunday and into Monday. At the surface, a stationary front with multiple waves of low pressure along it are expected. In the presence of increasing instability and moisture transport from Mexico, numerous showers and storms are expected to develop over this region over the weekend, with the greatest concentration during the afternoon and evening hours. After a period of cloudy and damp weather from the southeast coast to New England, expect an improvement in the weather pattern as we head into the weekend as the coastal low pressure system slowly moves out to sea and high pressure builds back into the region. Highs should easily reach the 70s to low 80s by Saturday under mostly sunny skies. It will be even warmer across the central and northern Plains for Friday as an anomalous upper level ridge will be in place, with highs in the 80s to low 90s likely.
