Short Range Forecast Discussion NWS Weather Prediction Center College Park MD 338 PM EDT Sat Oct 04 2014 Valid 00Z Sun Oct 05 2014 - 00Z Tue Oct 07 2014 ...Autumn weather returns to the eastern U.S.through Monday... The front pushing across the Northeast will bring rain showers and thunderstorms to New England tonight, and a secondary surge of cooler Canadian air surges into the northern Plains, Great Lakes and Northeast on Sunday night and Monday morning. Autumn weather is expected for the northeast quarter of the nation through Monday evening and scattered light rain and showers will concentrate along the southern fringes of the front--weakening as it spreads out across the I-40 corridor between Tulsa and Raleigh. In the western states, a Pacific front will begin moving into the Pacific Northwest on Sunday evening, and reach the northern Rockies and northern Great Basin by Monday afternoon. This front should gradually deliver an onshore flow to much of California, bringing a much cooler airmass to the coast, which has been sweltering in a very warm offshore flow during the past 24 to 48 hours.
