Short Range Forecast Discussion NWS Weather Prediction Center College Park MD 355 PM EDT Sun Oct 05 2014 Valid 00Z Mon Oct 06 2014 - 00Z Wed Oct 08 2014 ...Heavy rain possible over parts of the Tennessee Valley/Lower Mississippi Valley... A deep upper-level closed low over Western Ontario will be quasi-stationary. A spoke of upper-level energy rotating around the upper-level low will produce area of rain over parts of the Central Plains/Middle Mississippi Valley by Sunday evening that will move to parts of the Lower/Middle Mississippi Valley by Monday morning. In addition, another area of rain will develop over the Western Ohio Valley through Monday morning also. Showers and thunderstorms will develop over parts of the Tennessee Valley by Monday. Another spoke of upper-level energy will move into the Middle Mississippi Valley and advance to the Ohio Valley/Lower Great Lakes by Tuesday. This area of energy will produce a region of showers and thunderstorms from parts of the Lower Mississippi Valley to the Central Appalachians into Tuesday morning. The energy will also produce a region of rain from the Central Appalachians to the Lower Great Lakes that will move into parts of the Northeast by Tuesday. Additionally, rain will develop over parts of the Ohio Valley on Tuesday, too. Elsewhere, southerly flow off the Western Gulf of Mexico will aid in producing a small area of showers and thunderstorms over parts of the Western and Central Gulf Coast through Tuesday.
