Moisture from Simon is currently moving across the Desert Southwest which is leading to heavy rain across much of Arizona. Periods of showers and thunderstorms will continue through Thursday morning for much of the region. The heavier rainfall will be confined in Arizona. In fact, there is a slight risk for flash flooding through Thursday morning. See the Excessive Rainfall product for more information. Moisture will spread across the Four Corners through Wednesday and Thursday and by Thursday night, the bulk of heavier precipitation will move toward eastern Colorado. A front draped across the Plains and Southeast throughout the short term period will fire off rounds of convection through Friday. Initially, scattered showers and thunderstorms on Wednesday will focus along the boundary in the north and central Plains in addition to portions of the southern Plains and Southeast. By Wednesday night, precipitation will become more intense especially in the southern Plains and Lower Mississippi Valley. Flash flooding could be a threat on Thursday for these regions. This activity is expected to continue through Thursday and into Friday. Elsewhere, periods of convection will fixate along the Gulf Coast in Texas and Louisiana through Friday. The southern half of Florida will not break in the pattern of showers and thunderstorms as seen on Tuesday and will continue through Friday.
