Tropical moisture continues to stream into the Desert Southwest, threatening areas from the lower deserts to the central Rockies with soaking showers and thunderstorms. Some of this moisture will make it all the way to the Great Plains, where a sharp frontal boundary is likely to wring out heavy showers from the central Plains to the mid Mississippi River valley. To the north, cold air from Canada will be pouring into the Great Lakes and Saint Lawrence River valley, with a mixture of rain and snow in the gusty winds along the national border. The rain in the mid Mississippi valley will eventually spread to the Mid Atlantic states along a new frontal zone forming early Friday.
