Short Range Forecast Discussion NWS Weather Prediction Center College Park MD 351 AM EDT Sat Oct 11 2014 Valid 12Z Sat Oct 11 2014 - 12Z Mon Oct 13 2014 ...Temperatures will be 10 to 15 degrees below average over parts of the Southern Plains and parts of the Middle/Lower Mississippi Valley... A quasi-stationary front extends from the Mid-Atlantic to the Lower Mississippi Valley and into the Southern Plains. A wave of low pressure over the Lower Mississippi Valley will lift northward to the Western Ohio Valley by Sunday evening as the southern parts of the front dissipates. Moisture from the Gulf of Mexico will pool along the boundary producing showers and thunderstorms from the Mid-Atlantic to the Southern Plains through Sunday morning. Light to moderate rain will develop over parts of Southern New England and the Northern Mid-Atlantic on Saturday morning, ending by Saturday afternoon. Rain will also develop over parts of the Ohio Valley to Southern Mid-Atlantic that will lift into the Lower Great Lakes Saturday afternoon into Sunday evening. The area of showers and thunderstorms over the Tennessee Valley will likewise lift into the Ohio Valley/Central Appalachians by Sunday evening. Meanwhile, a front over the Northwest/Northern Intermountain Region will move southeastward to the Northern Plains to the Southern High Plains by Sunday. Rain will develop over parts of the Pacific Northwest on Saturday morning and will continue behind the boundary due to onshore flow through Sunday morning. Rain with embedded thunderstorms will develop over parts of the Northern Rockies/Northern High Plains by Saturday evening. Rain will also develop from the Northern Plains to the Central Rockies and into parts of the Northern High Plains on Sunday morning moving eastward to the Upper/Middle Mississippi Valley by Sunday evening. An area of snow will develop over the higher elevations of the Northern/Central Rockies on Sunday. In addition, as the associated front moves onto the Southern Plains showers and thunderstorms will develop over parts of the Central/Southern Plains on Sunday evening.
