Short Range Forecast Discussion NWS Weather Prediction Center College Park MD 236 PM EDT Sat Oct 11 2014 Valid 00Z Sun Oct 12 2014 - 00Z Tue Oct 14 2014 ...A large storm is forecast to develop in the central Plains to the mid Mississippi Valley early in the week with severe thunderstorms and locally heavy rain possible... A wave of low pressure over the Lower Mississippi Valley will lift northward to the Western Ohio Valley by Sunday evening. Moisture from the Gulf of Mexico will pool along the boundary, producing showers and thunderstorms over parts of the Ohio Valley and Tennessee Valley that will lift into the mid Atlantic, central Appalachians, and Lower Great Lakes Sunday evening to Monday morning. Showers will return to the Pacific Northwest Coast on Sunday night and Monday as the next front approaches the area. A front over the Northwest/Northern Intermountain Region will move southeastward to the Northern Plains to the Southern High Plains by Sunday. Rain will develop over parts of the Northern Rockies/Northern High Plains to the Central Rockies and into parts of the Northern High Plains on Sunday morning, moving eastward to the Upper/Middle Mississippi Valley by Monday. An area of snow will develop over the higher elevations of the Northern and Central Rockies on Sunday. A large storm is forecast to develop Sunday evening over the central to southern Plains and move into the mid Mississippi Valley Monday. Return southerly flow brings moisture into the system and will aid in the development of showers and thunderstorms Sunday night and Monday. Thunderstorm will have the potential to become severe and produce locally heavy rainfall. East of the storm, temperatures will quickly warm to above normal levels in the southeast to the Tennessee Valley and Ohio Valley and Great Lakes for Monday into Tuesday.
