Short Range Forecast Discussion NWS Weather Prediction Center College Park MD 302 PM EDT Fri Oct 17 2014 Valid 00Z Sat Oct 18 2014 - 00Z Mon Oct 20 2014 ***Pacific Northwest front to deliver showers over western Washington and Oregon through tonight*** ***Cold front crossing the northeast should produce showers tonight and Saturday*** Showers are likely across the Lower Great Lakes and the western slopes of the central Appalachians through Saturday as a cold front rotates through the region underneath an main upper level low over southern Canada. On Sunday the area of showers heads east across New England. Out west, another frontal system moving towards the Pacific Northwest will rain over western Washington and Oregon tonight. There may be a few rain showers over parts of the northern Rockies on Saturday as some of the moisture moves inland. The approach of the next front brings an increased chance of showers in western Washington and Oregon again late Sunday or Sunday night. Parts of southern Texas may see some showers and isolated thunderstorms over the weekend as moisture increases and moves onshore from the Gulf of Mexico. Elsewhere across the contiguous U.S., the weather pattern is expected to be relatively quiet through the weekend with below normal temperatures developing in the Great Lakes, Ohio Valley, and central Appalachians.
