Short Range Forecast Discussion NWS Weather Prediction Center College Park MD 359 AM EDT Sun Oct 19 2014 Valid 12Z Sun Oct 19 2014 - 12Z Tue Oct 21 2014 ***Pacific Northwest front to deliver rain near the coast*** ***Relatively quiet weather pattern elsewhere*** A Pacific cold front moving towards the Pacific Northwest on Sunday afternoon will begin another round of rain to parts of the West Coast. Most of the rain should fall over the higher terrain of Washington and Oregon, and given the warm nature of this system, any snow would be confined to only the highest mountains. Only isolated to scattered showers are expected east of the Cascades and into northern California. Parts of southern Texas and the southern Rockies may see some showers and isolated thunderstorms over the weekend as moisture increases and moves onshore from the Gulf of Mexico. Elsewhere across the contiguous U.S., the weather pattern is expected to be relatively quiet through Monday with below normal temperatures expected over the Great Lakes, Ohio Valley, and Northeast. Above normal temperatures are expected across much of the Rockies and Great Basin. Hamrick Graphics available at www.wpc.ncep.noaa.gov/basicwx/basicwx_wbg.php
